The heart warming story of Britain's Paul Potts

I was reading a friends blog - he posted the following note and two clips from youtube. You've got to watch the clips it is an amazing story of how a humble car phone salesman with a hidden talent gets his dream to sing opera.

My family and I enjoy watching "American Idol." We particularly have fun cheering for people who strike us as humble, ordinary individuals who have been gifted by God with an extraordinary talent.Great Britain has their own show called "Britain's Got Talent," produced by the same Simon Cowell of "American Idol." A young car phone salesman by the name of Paul Potts recently auditioned for the show. He has now become all the rage of Great Britain. The first video is his initial audition; the second video is his stellar semi-final appearance where he sings one of the most spine tingling performances of "Nessun Dorma" you will ever hear.

THE CARROLL FAMILY REUNION

You're looking at 47 Carrolls. We spent the weekend at Orange Beach fellowshipping with our extended family. It all began with the four sisters on the front row. Our family is spread out over North Carolina, South Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Here is what a cousin wrote on his blog -
5 Lessons/Reminders from Family Reunions:
1. We are different....different interests and different passions, but we have a common thread....WE ARE FAMILY.
2. Life is short and family is vitally important. Carve out more time in the year to all get together.
3. There is a window of time with kids....make the most of it...because they grow up.
4. God has placed us in the families that we are in for a reason....enjoy it....don't take it for granted.
5. Leaving a spiritual legacy and heritage is crucial. As I looked around at the 45 or so of us....I couldn't help but think of the spiritual seeds that were sown years ago into this family.

Stories Behind the Songs will continue in July

Dear Friends,
Many of you know I'm on a sabbatical through June 24th, so I'm not available to post the stories behind the songs until July. Please check back next week for some information on the church visits I've been making. Blessings, Mark
