Stories behind the songs - Sunday September 16, 2007

"My Redeemer Lives"
This great worship song was written by Rueben Morgan. When asked about the modern worship movement Rueben responded:
The Church world-wide is getting a revelation that there is a new song to sing. It's bringing the Church together, bringing unity among denominations, life, and relevance to churches. People are turning their hearts to God, their focus is being renewed, and they are realizing that we were created to worship God.

"You Shine"
"You Shine," inspired by Isaiah 51:12-13,
Isaiah:
12"I, even I, am He who comforts you Who are you that you are afraid of man who dies And of the son of man who is made like grass,
13 That you have forgotten the LORD your Maker, Who stretched out the heavens And laid the foundations of the earth, That you fear continually all day long because of the fury of the oppressor, As he makes ready to destroy? But where is the fury of the oppressor?
Brian Doerksen, raised in the Mennonite Brethren Church, recently returned to Canada after living in Great Britain for two years. In 2002, he released You Shine, his first Hosanna! Music album, recorded live at The Core Church in Dublin, Ireland. Brian and his wife Joyce have been married 19 years. They and their six children live in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

"Again & Again" The worship choir will share this song along with Soloist Jennifer Sarver.
This memorable new song from Claire Cloninger and Robert Sterling calls us to focus on Jesus—Lord of “the manger…the cross…all mercy…all joy…all ages…all days” and then release our praise to Him “again and again.”

Michael on worship:
"At the Village church , we believe that worship is our response - both personal and corporate - to God for Who He is and what He has done, expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live."
Lyrics:
One day when Heaven was filled with His praises,
One day when sin was as black as could be,
Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin,
Dwelt among men, my Example is He!
Living, He loved me; dying, He saved me;
Buried, He carried my sins far away;
Rising, He justified freely forever;
One day He’s coming—O glorious day!

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain,
One day they nailed Him to die on the tree;
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected:
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!
One day they left Him alone in the garden,
One day He rested, from suffering free;
Angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil;
Hope of the hopeless, my Savior is He!

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer,
One day the stone rolled away from the door;
Then He arose, over death He had conquered;
Now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming,
One day the skies with His glories will shine;
Wonderful day, my belovèd ones bringing;
Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

"Jesus, Paid it All"
This is a new arrangement of the hymn by Alex Nifong, here is a note I recieved from Alex:
Sure man... I have an old hymnal that I frequently play through sometimes during my private times alone with the Lord. I was playing through that song one day in Jan of 05 and I just started praying and singing out the phrase O praise the One who paid my debt and raised this life up from the dead. It was as simple as that. Just a prayer that came right out of my heart. Thanks for asking Mark.

Sermon Topic this Sunday is
